My 5 Favourite AW16/17 Trends
Since I’m new to the fashion blogging world, I thought I’d give you a chance to get to know me a little bit! And what better way to do this than through a “favourites” post?
So without further ado, here are my 5 favorite AW16/17 trends! The ones I’ve been sporting for the past months and will continue to do so until spring:
Animal print
Mmm… soft, warm and so lush, animal print coats will always have a special place in my heart! And this one from Zara is everything I’ve been looking for- from length, to thickness, to print.
Animal print clothing and accessories always give you that special something that sets you apart and catches the eye. I’m not even sure you can call it a trend, as many fashionistas see animal print as a wardrobe basic.
Some even treat it as a neutral, to be worn and mixed with any numbers of other prints, fabrics and colours. And a favorite of mine for example is animal print mixed with jewel hues!
Tapestry Ankle Boots
I absolutely have to rave about these tapestry ankle boots! I love love love them- they are insanely pretty, cool, and comfy to boot! (See what I did there? Heh 🙂 )
Anyway… the tapestry ankle boots trend has taken all our favourite retailers by storm.
And no wonder!
They can be worn with absolutely everything- from skinny jeans to boyfriend jeans, skirts & dresses, with or without tights. They’re just perfect for bringing that little extra kick to your outfit.
Mine are quite neutral in colour, to not overpower the rest of your ensemble, as they are quite neutral. But the fabric and print- not to mention that glittery heel- are what takes the outfit from meh to wow!
And another great option:
Daytime metallic
Granted, the metallic trend has been going strong since last year. But I am a bit of a self-confessed magpie, I’m going to hold on to it a while longer!
I have been wearing the copper coloured sweater in this post with everything! From skinny jeans to mini skirts or just over a dress, it spices up a daytime outfit and brings a bit of glam in an evening one.
Unfortunately you will not be able to find the same sweater anymore, but here are some great alternatives if you want to get your sparkle on this winter:
Embroidered everything!
I do browse Sheinside quite a lot, as they usually have plenty of nice, trendy items that don’t kill your budget. And this time I was in for a treat: enter this embroidered sweater.
It’s really cosy and warm, and a great way to try the embroidery trend that seems to be popping up on tops, dresses, coats, even boots lately. I recommend it 100%, but please be careful with the sizing when ordering!
It’s touted as a One-size, but it does run small- and I mean small. I usually wear XS-S and it fits me well, but right on the edge. If you’re looking for an oversized fit, or if you usually wear a larger size, this will not be it.
Or incorporate a pair of bold embroidered ankle booties in your outfits:
Velvet
Ok, so I may have jumped the gun on the velvet trend by about 2 years… I’m such a fan of it, so I could not resist the adorable number from New Look in the photos.
From the ruby colour to the girly, flowy shape, it just makes me grin every time I see it. I believe a flouncy, mid-thigh dress is absolutely a must have, as it can work for any number of occasions.
Dress it up with high heels and a gorgeous necklace for a party, or just chuck your trusty leather jacket over it and add your favourite boots for a date with your besties.
Since this one is sold out, below are some similar items:
