Which of your personal data do I collect and why?
If you comment on my blog or subscribe to my brand newsletter, I will be collecting information such as: your first name, e-mail address and IP. You can also opt to leave your website URL, which will be stored. I also collect non-identifiable data such as browser information in order for me to see my website statistics. These all are used to help personalize your experience as a reader.
WordPress & GDPR
The core WordPress software is GDPR compliant, and WordPress is helping all sites hosted on their servers remain GDPR compliant through a number of measures. One of them is the strong data encryption through SSL as discussed above. Another one is the Export and Erase Personal Data feature, which allows me to delete your personal information should you request this.
Your Data Security
MyStyle5.com is secured by SSL (which you can see in the HTTPS certificate displayed in the website address). This website is also protected by an online firewall which blocks hacking attempts and security breaches.
As you may know, my blog runs on and is hosted by WordPress. WordPress regularly tests and checks for security breaches on their servers, and should an illegal attempt be made, they will contact me, and I will, in turn, contact you and the authorities in case of a confirmed significant risk.
Your Data Retention
If you comment on any of my posts, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps me recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically. If you subscribe to my brand newsletter, I will retain your data indefinitely, or until you Unsubscribe from my newsletter. If you Follow me on WordPress, or subscribe to my blog, I will retain your data indefinitely, or until you request to be forgotten. You can always see, edit and delete your personal information at all times (except your username).
Your Right to Your Data
You have the right to request an exported file with the data I have about you. You can also request to “be forgotten”- i.e., request that I delete any of your personal data (except for information that I am obligated to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes).
You will see that my posts sometimes include links to other websites (usually affiliate links), which have their own data collection, cookies and plugin embedding policies. As such, I am no responsible and can’t be held liable for their content or activities, but I will welcome your feedback on these websites in an effort to protect the integrity of MyStyle5.com.
Third Party Plug Ins
MyStyle5.com uses Google Analytics to collect information on the site’s amount of traffic and visitor behaviour patterns. You can always use the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on to opt out.
Visitor comments are checked through Akismet spam service- please read their Policy next to the Leave a Reply space when posting a comment.
