5 Fab Summer Beauty Favorites Well Worth Carrying Into Fall
September is here, my dears!
With this summer going by sans the usual flurry of trips-outings-festivals and events we’ve come to associate with it, I think you’ll share in my feeling that fall seems to have arrived before its time…
So to make the transition a bit smoother, I thought I’d share 5 summer beauty favorites that are well worth using during autumn too! Who knows, maybe you’ll find a new favorite here too, to help you make the most of the next months:
Rouge Dior in Culte
You’ve heard me talking about Rouge Dior many times before.
And you’ve also seen me wearing it often- on Instagram, Youtube, here on the blog and in You and Your Personal Style (The Romantic in Lesson 5 is sporting it in Rose Baiser).
So you’ll probably not be shocked by it appearing in this list- because in my humble opinion, this is the absolute best lipstick, year-round!
Creamy, comfortable-to-wear formula to highly pigmented shades that leave the most delightful tints as they fade, this lippie is a classic.
And with Culte added to my repertoire, I can very confidently say that Rouge Dior has earned a permanent spot in my purse.
This particular shade has been a constant for me throughoutย summer 2020.
A deep cherry pink-red hue, it’s perfectly suited for fun, hot evenings out and about.
But I also find it perfect for fall- especially coupled with flushed cheeks, slightly bitten by the first November frost.
Not to mention, if you’re also a fan of make-up products that give you a low-effort, highly-chic look, this is a great pick!
You can dress it up or down as you see fit, of course. But to me, it needs nothing more than a BB cream and a swipe of mascara to create an elegant look.
The Body Shop Dry Brush
Dry brushing is one of those one and off beauty habits for me. But every time I manage to do it regularly, my skin looks much, much better and is much softer!
This because dry brushing helps exfoliate skin, encourages blood circulation and lymph drainage, and unclogs pores as you go. All of these supporting a more radiant and healthy skin!
Plus, based on the advice of dermatologists, dry brushing doesn’t need to be done more than 1-2 times a week. Or even less often if your skin is sensitive! So doing it regularly isn’t actually that much of a chore.
What really helped me stick to it this summer was a very simple trick:
I left my round brush next to the shower, instead of on my nightstand!
Then before I jumped in, I made sure to take a couple of minutes and exfoliate with it. By starting from the ankle towards the heart, going in long, circular motions, you reap all the above benefits of this beauty ritual.
I would say that any natural bristles brush will do a great job. It’s all a matter of your own level of sensitivity, as some will be harder and “scratchier” than others.
Mine is from The Body Shop, is a medium level of stiffness, and has been with me for years! I just make sure to wash it thoroughly every couple of weeks, to get rid of dead skin cells.
NOON Aesthetics Brush & Go Powder SPF
I wrote a bit more extensively about the right SPF formulas to stay breakout-free here. There I also mentioned the NOON Aesthetics powder SPF, which has become a close companion to me this summer.
It’s absolutely lightweight and pleasant to wear- in fact, you don’t even feel it on your skin! And its biggest advantage is that it keeps your complexion matte and non-greasy, while protecting you from the sun.
Plus, thanks to its sleek design, I was able to very easily take it with me on the go (even in my jeans pocket).
If you’re sick of greasy or sticky creams, and are ready to try a different formulation, I would heartily recommend this one.

If you aren’t ready however to say good-bye to SPF creams, make sure to give the below 2 a read too:

Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Waterproof Mascara
Another favorite you’ve seen me wear many times before, the Givenchy Noir Couture Waterproof Mascara has become a staple in my make-up bag.
So imagine my chagrin when I needed to replace my old one last winter, and couldn’t find it anymore in our local Douglas.
Luckily though, the beauty advisor there was able to point me to another just as fab alternative from the brand:
Namely, the Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Waterproof Mascara.
I was a bit skeptical at first, simply because I love its sister so much. Not to mention, the little balled up hedgehog that seemed to constitute my mascara applicator was intimidating, to say the least.

But I gave it one try, and was hooked!
The formula is indeed waterproof and smudge-proof, blackest black and non-clumpy. So, at least to my non-professional eye, it ticks all the same boxes that Noir Couture did. (Plus, the applicator is actually not any more difficult to use either!)
I loved this mascara all throughout winter and spring, and when the time came to buy a new one for summer, I opted for it again in a heart beat.
And having stayed put during the lonnnng heatwave we had in the Netherlands, it has earned a spot in my autumn make-up bag too. I will probably alternate between it and my first love (available again!), but I couldn’t be happier with its performance overall.
*Oh, and if you’re just starting out with finding your perfect mascara (or simply looking for some best practices) make sure to watch my tips for itย before your next buy!
Celeb Luxury Colorwash & Colorditioner
This haircolour power-duo (and no, I’m not exaggerating for effect) came into my life at a dark time. (OK, maybe a bit of an exaggeration here ๐ )
But the truth is, I had been using the Overtone Extreme Red mask and conditioner for a long time to keep my red hair vibrant. So when it was discontinued in Europe, I was left with a big, black hole in my beauty cabinet.
Luckily, as I also mentioned on Facebook, these 2 Celeb Luxury products came to the rescue!
Between the Ruby Red Colorwash and the Magenta Colorditioner, I am able to juggle the intensity of my locks at home, while keeping them soft and conditioned.
And thanks to the very strong pigment in both, you don’t need a lot to reap the benefits!
In fact, with repeated use, the colour gets stacked up. So you can enjoy the strong hue you get in your salon that much longer!
Which, especially in times when salon visit are few and far between, is pretty useful.
I hope you enjoyed discovering my summer beauty favorites! The ones I’ve been turning to over and over again these past months, with no plans to stop in the next ones either.
I’m curious to hear which one(s) piques your curiosity! And if you have any favorites of your own that you’d like to share (skincare, make-up or hair), please do so in the comments.
