Two nights ago I was in my parents house when we witnessed the first snow of the year here in Romania! Granted, we don’t get much of it in Amsterdam, so I was grinning ear to ear at the sight of the first timid snowflakes. But then again I thought “Snow. In November already. Brrr…”
Yup, cold is certainly not my favorite thing in the world- not by far! But luckily, there are always things to make me feel cozy and happy, even during the winter. Hot coffee, good books, a pretty sweater dress or two… and of course, rich, sumptuous beauty products that were too heavy for summer.
So if you’re in need of a little pick me up, if looking for a new cold weather perfume, or maybe a skincare item or two, just keep on reading! Below I’m sharing 5 amazing beauty products to carry you through the winter:
Violette de Molinard Perfume
I find the Violette perfume from the house of Molinard absolutely beautiful, in the purest sense of the word. Between violets, rose and iris this is a heady, yet sophisticated scent. You may think it a spring-summer perfume, since it’s so floral, but I find it strong enough for colder months as well.
Founded in 1849, the renowned perfume maison from Grasse creates rare fragrances from local flowers. You may smell many violet perfumes, but the Molinard one absolutely stuns with its depth and persistence. It is a quality purchase that would make a lovely gift for Christmas too.
Sephora Rose Cleansing Wipes
I think we all know by now it’s not a good idea to fall asleep with makeup on. Or even with the dirt and grime we pack on daily just from being out and about. But sometimes we do feel just a liiiitle bit too lazy to go through our whole skincare routine.
Enter: the Sephora cleansing wipes! These have been a staple in my beauty routine since university- when let’s face it, lack of sleep and skincare on the fly are the norm. And while Sephora stock a whole lot of different types of cleansing wipes, these rose ones are my favorites!
These wipes not only smell absolutely wonderful- none of that fake, chemical rose smell here! But they also hydrate your skin, which is imperative when it’s cold. I’m not saying you won’t need your face wash, toner & moisturizer anymore. I’m just saying keep a box of these on your nightstand for emergencies (aka late nights of pizza, Netflix & wine).
Holy Land Cosmetics Foot Treatment Cream
Now you probably know I’m a long time fan and user of Holy Land Cosmetics. While a few of their products are a constant staple in my skincare routine, I’ve only recently discovered their foot cream. And I was immediately drawn by the lightweight Tea Tree oil smell, and the rich consistency!
Incredibly thick and moisturizing, this cream treatment will certainly hydrate your feet. And if you have any left over on your hands post application, make sure to spread it on your legs as well. Hey, just because we’re keeping them under covers in the cold, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve the royal treatment!
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse®
This is one of those beauty products that I’ve been eyeing and wanting for the longest time. I’m alreayd a huge fan of dry oils for hair and skin, and since the Nuxe one is such a cult favorite, I was looking forward to getting my hands on it.
My first thought was: “Yay, it comes with a pump!”, since that was the only thing I wished the Caudalie one had. It makes for a much more even distribution of such a luxurious, lush product. And how pretty is that bottle? Again, a great gift idea for a beauty lover you love.
The oil is indeed close to perfect as far as I’m concerned. It has a deep, layered scent (perfect for cold months), and absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it silky! Only thing I would like even more would be for Nuxe to go completely cruelty free. Perhaps in the future?
Morphe Brushes Fall Into Frost Eyeshadow Palette
Last Christmas, this wonderful palette was on my wish list. This Christmas, it’s gracing my makeup table- and I’m counting on it for some bomb holiday party looks! I mean, it’s even in the name- this palette is clearly perfect for foggy autumn days and moody winter nights.
I love the texture and ease of application of each individual colour that Morphe have added here. The shades are smooth, buttery and give insane colour payoff!
In between all of the matte neutrals and the glittery rich hues, there are countless looks you can put together with just this one slim palette. Like the one just below:
